What is CBT ?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT for short, is a type of therapy that supports you to learn how to ‘be your own therapist’ (Beck Institute). During the therapy you acquire the skills to become more aware of upsetting thoughts and work out how realistic they are. As people start to do this their mood improves.

You will work towards meaningful goals and develop helpful ways to solve problems along the way.

Therapy can seen being like a ‘training ground’ where you practice new skills and ways of behaving and troubleshoot them with your therapist. You then put them to use in ‘real life’ situations empowering you to manage your own emotions and improve your life.

Will it work for me ?

There is a lot of evidence (2000+ studies) to say CBT works for many people (we call this evidence-based), it can help you with stress, anxiety, managing and recovering from burn-out.
